A schoolboy was approached by a man in a van who told him he was 'transport for the school.'

The suspicious incident took place at about 8.05am yesterday (Tuesday) as the boy was waiting for a bus to take him to school in Irthlingborough.

He was waiting at the stop outside the Hare & Hounds pub in Great Addington.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "This related to an incident at about 8.05am when a boy was approached by a small grey Ford van at the bus stop who told the boy he was transport for the school.

"The boy told the person that he was waiting for the bus and that he would call the police.

"Anyone with info should contact us about this."

The man who approached the boy has been described as white and he wore black sunglasses and a black cap.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police.
