'Satisfying' 30-month prison sentence for Geddington burglar

A man who burgled a house in Geddington has been handed a 30-month prison sentence.

Paul William Devoisey, 45, of Mercia Gardens, Coventry, broke into the property in Kettering Road on February 13, 2020, by smashing the patio door glass.

Once inside he stole a number of high value items including gold jewellery, a ruby ring, a diamond ring, a Gucci watch and a Christian Dior handbag.

Detectives from Northamptonshire Police’s Burglary Team used forensic evidence to link the crime to Devoisey and he was subsequently arrested and charged with the offence.

At Northampton Crown Court last week, he was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.

Lead Investigator, PC Tony Abbott, said: “The conviction and sentencing of Paul Devoisey is very satisfying because it means that there is one less burglar on our streets.

“Burglary is an incredibly invasive crime that makes the victim feel violated and unsafe in their home.

"That is why, as a force, tackling this crime is one of our top priorities.

“We will continue to be relentless in our fight against burglars to ensure that those individuals who believe that they can help themselves to innocent people’s property are brought to justice.”
