A Rushden woman who pulled a pub worker's hair when she was refused service will have to wear a tag after admitting assault.

Naomi Brierley, 21, was arrested after the incident at The Railway Inn in High Street at about 5.30pm on July 6, just days after pubs re-opened following the Covid lockdown.

Police said Brierley grabbed her victim's hair and pulled her to the ground at the town's Wetherspoon pub when staff refused to serve her.

At Northampton Magistrates' Court this week Brierley, of Beech Road, admitted assault by beating.

Magistrates sentenced her to a community order with a curfew requirement and rehabilitation requirements.

Brierley will be electronically monitored with a tag and will have to stay at home between 6pm and 6am each day for 16 weeks.

She must pay her victim compensation of £200 and pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.

A charge of causing actual bodily harm was dropped.
