A Rushden man's night out proved to be expensive after he smashed up a nightclub's fruit machine.

Curtis Brice, 21, was arrested after his criminal act in NB's in Northampton just after midnight on June 15 last year.

He was at the Bridge Street nightclub when a smashed up a fruit machine 'in a rage', a police spokesman said.

Last week at Northampton Magistrates' Court Brice, of Crabb Street, admitted criminal damage.

Magistrates sentenced him to a conditional discharge for 12 months, meaning he can be brought back to court and be re-sentenced if he commits another crime within the next year.

Brice must also pay compensation of £695 and prosecution costs of £85.
