Rothwell man assisting police with their enquiries after woman's unexplained death

A Rothwell man is assisting police with their enquiries after a 49-year-old woman died in at a house yesterday (Thursday).

Officers remain at the scene in Crispin Street after they were called to the sudden death at about 1.20pm.

Scenes of crime officers were at the terraced house and a cordon is still in place with the road closed off.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place this afternoon with police initially treating her death as 'unexplained'.

This afternoon (Friday) a police spokesman said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and a 54-year-old Rothwell man is assisting us with our enquiries.”

Eyewitnesses said an ambulance turned up shortly after police yesterday before leaving the scene just afterwards.
