Cannabis plants worth about a quarter of a million pounds were discovered in two separate Kettering raids at the weekend.

Police found about 320 plants in total, worth the huge six-figure sum, after forcing their way into the grow houses.

The first raid took place in Union Street at about 10am on Saturday (February 27), with the second in Duke Street at about 8am yesterday (Sunday).

Officers arrested a man who tried to flee from the Duke Street cannabis factory, with the police helicopter hovering above.

Kadri Bashaliu, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with producing 255 plants of cannabis in connection with the Duke Street incident.

The 25-year-old was held in custody overnight and is due to appear before magistrates in Northampton this morning (Monday).
