A racist is wanted by police after pushing a pregnant woman in Wellingborough.

Police are investigating the shocking incident which took place in Silver Street between 3pm and 3.30pm on Friday (June 19).

The man - who police said appeared to be drunk - used "racially offensive language" towards the pregnant woman before pushing her to the side and causing her to fall.

Two members of the public intervened and the woman was able to walk away.

"A police spokesman said: "The offender is described as white, of a slim build with blond hair.

"Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000313733. Or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
