Pregnant woman assaulted and chased during Northampton knife attack

A pregnant woman was assaulted and her friend threatened with a knife during an attempted mugging in Northampton on Sunday night.

Detectives revealed the woman was shoved against a car parked in Kettering Road and chased onto the Racecourse where she was assaulted by a woman.

Her male friend attempted to intervene but was threatened with a knife.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The woman, who is in her 30s and in the early stages of pregnancy, required hospital treatment.

"She was walking past a shop in Kettering Road between 6.30pm and 6.50pm on Sunday (November 29) when a female offender pushed her, causing her to fall backwards into a car and assaulted her. The woman was then chased onto the Racecourse, where she was further assaulted.

"Her friend attempted to intervene, however was threatened with a knife by a male, who was with the offender."

Police say they are looking for a 5ft 4in white woman with a red short bob hairstyle. She was medium build and wearing a black waist-length coat, grey leggings with coloured stripes around the ankle and black Nike Air Max trainers.

The male with her was 5ft 1in and slim with blond hair shaved at the sides and worn in a man bun with stubble. He was wearing a blue tracksuit top, grey T-shirt and blue tracksuit bottoms.
