Two protesters who were blocking roads in Northampton were removed by police this morning (Saturday).

Officers were called to the junction of Abington Square and York Road at about 11.10am after reports of a man sitting in the middle of the road.

It came shortly after receiving reports of another person blocking Wellingborough Road.

Both protesters were removed from the road and earlier this afternoon a force spokesman said officers remain in the local area.

The spokesman said: “Officers were deployed and arrived at the scene promptly, and removed them from the highway

“There was some minor disruption before officers arrived and we’d like to thank the public for their patience. Both roads are now running as usual.”
