Police launch investigation after teenage girl was grabbed by man in Northampton

This followed after she ignored two men who were shouting at her and asking if she had a “boyfriend”.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old girl was assaulted by a man in Northampton yesterday (Sunday, November 1).

The victim was at the junction of Harlestone Road and St James Road, walking towards a newsagent's, between 2.45pm and 3pm when two men shouted at her and told her to 'come here now'.

The girl asked the two men what they wanted and they asked if she had a boyfriend - she opted to ignore them and went to cross the road.

As she stood at the crossing, one of the men climbed over the metal barriers and grabbed the girl’s arms from behind.

A van driver sounded his horn at the girl and the offender as they were near to the traffic - she was then able to break free and cross the road.

The first offender is described as white, aged 19-20 years, over six foot tall, of a slim build and had dark brown stubble.

He was wearing a black Stone Island beanie with distinctive goggles and a dark puffer jacket.

The second offender is described as white, aged 19-20 years, over six foot tall, of a slim build and had a gaunt face and pale complexion.

He was wearing a dark long-sleeved top and was carrying a bag.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, in particular the van driver who beeped at the girl and man, or anyone who may have captured the incident on their dashcam.”
