A man believed to be stealing train track cables was caught by police in a response involving the helicopter.

The helicopter was spotted above Kettering on Sunday (May 17) night.

Northants Police, British Transport Police and the National Police Air Service were jointly responding to reports of three men stealing cables from the tracks in Pytchley Road at 8.15pm.

They were tracked and arrested.

Stephen John Kerti-Attfield, 29, of Central Avenue, Kettering, has been charged with theft in connection with the incident.

He will be in court on June 29.

A 19-year-old man was given a caution for theft. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft and released under investigation pending further inquiries.
