Police chief hits out after officers are spat at, attacked and had urine thrown at them in just one night in Northamptonshire
Superintendent Chris Hillery says actions are an 'absolute disgrace'
A senior police officer has hit out after four police officers were attacked, spat at and had urine thrown over them in incidents over night.
Superintendent Chris Hillery, area commander for Northamptonshire West, tweeted on Saturday morning.
"In early to see the last of nights going home and days starting. I’ve had to write to 4 officers this morning who have been assaulted, spat at and urine thrown at them. Absolute disgrace #dutysupt #protecttheprotectors," he said.
He was supported by a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police on their main account: "Awful. Our police officers do not deserve to be treated like this #NotPartOfTheJob"
Last month, Chief Constable Nick Adderley highlighted the case of a Northamptonshire Police who had to self-isolate after being spat at and said actions like this would not be tolerated.
