William Alderdice - known locally as Billy - was released from jail at the end of last year but failed to obey the rules surrounding his release.

He went on the run and officers issued an appeal on January 3 for help from local people to find him.

Police finally caught up with him yesterday (Wednesday, January 15).

Alderdice, formerly of Magpie Close, Corby, but now of Northampton was jailed for two years and eight months in August 2018 after being caught running down Occupation Road on a Sunday lunchtime brandishing a knife.

He was released from prison in November after serving half of his sentence but broke.

Back in August 2018, Northampton Crown Court heard how Alderdice had an 11-year-history of offending dating back to his early teens, with 61 crimes on his record dating back to 2007.

The 26-year-old was said to have been in a cycle of “prison, release, homelessness, alcohol” for years.
