Fire crews spent about two hours bringing the fire in Chase View Road under control after being called at about 6.45pm when a hedgerow and adjoining fences were set alight.
A police spokesman said: "Five to six young people, girls and boys, were seen in the area at the time and it’s believed they were responsible."

Two high pressure hose jets and a main jet were used to stop the blaze from spreading even further.
Karen Worsdell called 999 to report the fire when she could see flames growing from her window. She filmed the blaze in the video seen above.
She said: "We have lived in the village for most of our lives and unfortunately recently there has been more reports of anti-social behaviour activity. Some were reported on the evening of the fire with a group of youths intimidating a resident as they walked through the village.

"I am confident that the Geddington community will work together alongside the police to make this village the safe haven it has always been known to be."
Another Geddington woman, who did not want to be named, said: "We were walking home from a house party when we saw the blaze and fire engines trying to control the fire.
"We need to catch these culprits. They need to know how serious this could have been."
