Thieves stole two box files after breaking into the conservatory of a house in Cottingham.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary which took place in Rockingham Road in the village between midnight and 1am on Tuesday (June 23).

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "The offender/s gained access to a conservatory at the rear of the property after climbing through a window and stole two box files which contained personal documents.

"However, they were unable to get into the main house.

"With the hot weather set to continue, officers are once again encouraging residents to ensure all windows and doors are secure when leaving a room unattended, in particularly to check they are all locked before going to bed."
