Muggers stole a camera equipment worth more than £2,000 from a pensioner in a Northampton town centre alleyway last Thursday.

Police revealed the 69-year-old was shoved from behind as he walked between Regent Street and St Andrews Street by the thieves — who rode off on an electric scooter and a pushbike.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The man was walking at about 4.30pm on November 12 when he was pushed from behind.

"Two offenders stole the man’s backpack containing £2,300 of camera equipment before riding off — one on a black private electric scooter and the other on a dark-coloured pedal cycle.

"The offender on the scooter was wearing a black hooded top with the hood pulled over his head and black tracksuit bottoms. The offender on the bike was of a medium build and wore a dark jacket and tracksuit bottoms."
