Pedestrian seriously hurt after being hit by car in Corby

An elderly man has been left with serious injuries after he was struck by a car in Corby today (Wednesday).

The air ambulance landed after the crash in Cottingham Road, near junction with Willow Brook Road and the boating lake entrance, at about 11.40am.

A pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was hit by a Ford Fiesta as he crossed the road with his dog. It's understood the dog wasn't hurt in the incident.

The man suffered a serious leg and head injury and was airlifted to hospital in Coventry. It's understood a doctor from the nearby Lakeside practice helped him until paramedics arrived.

The driver was not injured in the incident and nobody has been arrested, police said.

Police officers and paramedics remain at the scene this afternoon and police closed the road at the Studfall Avenue roundabout.

This afternoon a force spokesman said: "Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage of the incident.

"Anyone with information is asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 or Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 180 of 04/11/20."
