Officers from the Operation Neutrino squad were called in after the suspect ran off into a wooden area near Lumbertubs Way at around 1.50pm on Saturday.

A 35-year-old man was tracked down and later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Operation Neutrino was launched in 2016 to tackle anti-social behaviour involving bikes, usually on private land or parkland in towns and villages.

The squad recently helped snare a suspect wanted for rape, vehicle crime and a recall to prison in the Goldings area of Northampton

Chief Inspector Rachael Handford said: “The versatility of our off-road bikes led by the Neighbourhood Teams and the local knowledge they have enable us to effectively patrol off the beaten track; this goes to show the benefit of a diverse vehicle fleet.”
