Notorious Corby thief is back behind bars

A well-known light-fingered thief from Corby has been sent back to jail after admitting a string of offences.

Jardine Dewar, 28, was arrested in Corby town centre on Tuesday, January 14 after police had issued a wanted notice for her.

She was charged with a total of 11 offences.

Yesterday (Wednesday, January 15) Dewar pleaded guilty at Northampton Magistrates’ Court to four thefts, three frauds, three thefts from motor vehicles and one of vehicle interference. She also asked for two further offences of theft to be taken into consideration.

Dewar was sentenced to a total of 29-weeks in prison and ordered to pay £238 compensation and a £122 victim surcharge.

PC Mark Walker of the Corby Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is one of a number of arrests by the Kettering Proactive Team which has been carried out recently targeting overnight vehicle crime in Corby.

“We will continue to work with the community to tackle vehicle crime and we would therefore encourage anyone who has been targeted to report it to us, either by calling 101 or submitting a report online.

“We would also urge local residents and businesses, who may have CCTV stills of possible offenders, to email them to us along with the date, time and location of the incident.”
