Northampton man jailed for five years for child sex offences

A Northampton man has been sentenced to five years and four months in prisonfor child sex offences.

Mark Richard Rands, 53, from Southfield Road, Duston, also received a five-year extended licence and will remain on the sex offender register for life.

Rands was convicted at Northampton Crown Court of two counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity today.

The sentencing followed an investigation by the force’s MOSOVO (Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders) team, led by Detective Constable Martin Treen, in conjunction with the RISE (Reducing Incidents of Sexual Exploitation) team.
