No charges after 'full and thorough' Great Oakley rape investigation

Police say that an investigation into an alleged double serious sexual assault at an HMO in Great Oakley has ended.

The incident at the HMO in Frith Close, Great Oakley, caused widespread public concern on social media after police officers were seen at the home following the incident on September 27, 2025.

The force then revealed that they were investigating the alleged rape and sexual assault of two female complainants at the home.

Six men were arrested – four on suspicion of rape and two on suspicion of causing a female aged 13 or over to engage in penetrative sexual activity.

They were later released under investigation.

Now, Northamptonshire Police have revealed that the case has been halted, and no charges will be brought against the men.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers from SOLAR, the force’s dedicated rape investigation team, conducted a full and thorough investigation into allegations of a serious sexual assault in Corby, on September 27 last year.

“This concluded in March this year, with no further action taken against the six men arrested due to evidential difficulties and therefore the threshold needed to charge anyone in connection with this offence was not reached.”

When police wish to pursue a case of rape, senior officers consult the Crown Prosecution Service before any charge is laid. The CPS weigh up two tests before making their decision. The first test is whether there is enough evidence to provide a realistic prospect of a conviction. After this test is met, the CPS must then decide whether laying a charge is in the public interest.
