Murder inquiry: Detectives make second arrest following stabbing on Northampton's Racecourse

Detectives investigating the death of a man at Northampton's Racecourse have arrested a second man on suspicion of murder.
A police statement issued late on Tuesday night confirmed the 43-year-old from Northampton was being held in custody.

Hide AdOfficers launched a murder investigation after police and paramedics were called to St George’s Avenue, near the Racecourse, at about 10.50am on Tuesday (June 30), following reports of a stabbing.
The victim, a 38-year-old man from Northampton, died a short time later.
A 33-year-old Northampton man was arrested shortly after and also remains in police custody.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.

Hide AdSenior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Pete Long, said: “Although we have now made two arrests in connection with the man’s death, we are keeping an open mind and the investigation is continuing at pace.
“We have spoken with many witnesses but there will still be people who haven’t yet contacted us, who may have information that will help us piece together what happened on Tuesday morning and led to the victim’s death.
“Local officers are continuing to patrol the area to reassure the local community and I would encourage anyone with any concerns or any information about the incident to approach and speak to the officers.
