Motorist, 77, lands £1,000 court bill over late-night smash in Northampton

Magistrates hit a 77-year-old motorist with a £1,000 court bill over a late-night collision in Northampton.

Anthony Philip Perry, was behind the wheel of a Subaru Forester which changed lanes without checking for other vehicles at the Carlsberg roundabout, colliding with a Toyota C-HR.

Magistrates heard that Perry, of Teeton Road, Guilsborough, did not swap details with the other driver and failed to report the accident to police within 24 hours.

Perry also admitted driving without due care and attention at the time of the crash, at 10.55pm on January 22 last year.

Wellingborough magistrates fined him £440 for each offence plus ordered him to pay £173 in prosecution costs and a surcharge to fund victim services. They also added six points to his driving record.
