Two teenagers have been banned from Corby's town centre after dropping pieces of concrete onto market traders' tents as they packed down.

The town's travelling historical market, which returned for a second time this year, closed a day early on Saturday (December 12) because of predicted bad weather.

But as traders were packing their stalls away at the market, adjacent to the Willow Place car park in Elizabeth Street, children threw concrete pieces onto their tents.

The incident, which happened between 6.10pm and 6.20pm, left a tent roof damaged and it was extremely fortunate nobody was injured.

Corby town centre manager Dan Pickard told the Northants Telegraph: "It's just unacceptable behaviour.

"I cannot imagine what would go through someone's mind that would make them think it's a clever thing to do."

Two teenage boys from Corby were identified and taken home to their parents by police officers.

The pair - who police say are believed to be 14-years-old - have been banned from the town centre.

A police spokesman said: "This was a very dangerous incident, which could have serious consequences if someone below had been struck."
