She could hear male voices on the other side of the door. She shouted out, and heard the offenders running away.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "On this occasion there were no keys in the door, however officers would like to remind residents to always put their valuables in a secure place at night and never leave them in sight of doors and windows.

"As the hot weather continues, officers are also encouraging residents to ensure all windows and doors are secure when leaving a room unattended, in particularly to check they are all locked before going to bed."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000316947.
