Three men have been fined for breaching Covid-19 restrictions in Wellingborough.

Fines were issued to two 19-year-old men who were in a car with no lawful reason to be out in Cambridge Street at about 10.30pm last night (Tuesday) and became abusive to the PCSOs.

A spokesman for Northants Police said they also fined a 20-year-old man in Fulmar Lane at 10pm last night after he was given advice about a street party and then became aggressive to officers.

Officers took to Twitter after handing out the fines, with Wellingborough Town Neighbourhood Policing Team tweeting: "First step was to engage & educate - Males shown complete disregard to myself and colleague.

"Lied to us about where they’re staying and hurled abuse towards me and colleague. This resulted in x3 tickets. Proactive shift last night & more to come tonight."

PCSO Unsworth also tweeted about the fines, saying: "3 #COVID19 Fixed Penalty Notices given to 3 gang nominals who had no valid reasons being in #Wellingborough."
