Police are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who witnessed the incident to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
Police are also reminding motorists to remove temptation from inside their vehicles.
Advice includes checking nothing is left on the seats of a vehicle or the dashboard, console, door pockets, or footwells.
Take all valuables with you or lock them out of sight in the boot. Make sure no one is watching while you do this.
Police also suggest wiping away suction marks from device holders, as this can tempt thieves to break in and see if the device is still in the car.
Finally, always lock your vehicle and physically check the doors have locked before you leave. Criminals can use signal blocking devices to prevent the remote locking signal working, so they can get in once you have left.
