At about 7.30am a suspect gained entry to her home by smashing in the front door.

But once inside he apologised to the woman, saying he had the wrong address.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said a 37-year-old Burton Latimer man has since been charged with criminal damage in relation to the incident.

Philip James Moore, of Nene Road, will face magistrates at a later date.
