Man injured in vicious knife attack in Northampton after being chased and robbed by two males

A man was robbed and attacked with a knife after he was chased by two men in Northampton on Friday (February 12).

The incident took place in Cowper Street where two men approached the victim and demanded money. The victim ran and, in an attempt to flee the men, he got into the back of a nearby parked taxi.

The taxi driver, however, refused to drive and the offenders got into the back of the taxi as well where they attacked the victim. The man sustained lacerations to his hands caused by a knife.

The taxi then travelled on to Cloutsham Street via Clare Street and Overstone Road, where it stopped.

The man managed to escape the perpetrators after another chase took place.

The first offender is described as black and in his early twenties, five foot and eight inches and of a chubby build with shaven dark hair and he spoke with a London accent. He was wearing a dark coloured scarf covering the lower half of his face, dark bottoms and had a dark Gucci messenger back over his shoulder; he may have been wearing rectangle framed glasses.

The second man was also black and of a similar age, five foot and seven inches, of a slim build with short dark braided hair and a noticeable gap in his top teeth. He spoke with a London accent and was wearing a black tracksuit.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: "Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident in either Cowper Street or Cloutsham Street, or who may have information which could assist with the investigation."
