A man was hit in the face during an attack by a gang carrying knives in Corby.

The 44-year-old victim was approached by three males in Latimer Road, Corby, and hit in the side of his face with an object.

The offenders, two of which had knives, attempted to search him before running off in the direction of Studfall Avenue.

The attempted robbery took place between 7.45pm and 8pm on Sunday (June 7).

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "All three offenders spoke with a local accent and had their hoods up with the lower part of their faces covered.

"They also all wore dark trousers.

"Two of the offenders were 5ft 8in, while the third was slightly taller at 5ft 10in.

"All were of a slim build. One wore a dark bomber jacket with a distinctive chequered pattern down the left arm.

"The other two had dark hooded tops."
