A man carrying a hammer walked into a house in Kettering looking for someone about a debt, before being told to leave by the occupants.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the aggravated burglary in Washington Square at about 3.45pm yesterday (Monday).

The man walked into the home and said he was looking for a man about a debt, but did not use any violence or steal anything.

Two people inside - who the man was not looking for - asked him to leave and he left in a silver/grey vehicle.

No description of the man was available but anyone with information should contact police on 101.
