Man gardening with a knife sparks police response in Kettering

Police responded to reports of a man with a knife in Kettering yesterday (Monday, November 2) to find he was using the blade to trim a hedge.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "We received a call from a member of the public at about 4pm yesterday (Monday, November 2), reporting that they had seen a man in Windmill Avenue, Kettering with a large knife.

"Officers attended and identified the man, who confirmed he had been using the knife to trim the hedge in his front garden.

"No offence was found to have been committed and the man was given words of advice."

Residents had reported seeing armed police and interceptors in Windmill Avenue near Tesco Express.
