Man attempts to steal 'numerous bottles of wine' from Co-op in Northampton

He has since been charged with theft from a shop in connection with the incident.

A man was arrested after an attempted theft of 'numerous' bottles of wine took place at a Co-op store in Birchfield Road East, Northampton.

This incident took place at 9pm on Sunday, February 28 when a man was seen attempting to steal multiple bottles of wine. He then tried to run away from shop staff but was detained by members of the public.

Police were deployed to the store on Birchfield Road East, where they made one arrest.

Joe Webber, 35, of Cartmel Road in Daventry, has since been charged with theft from a shop in connection with the incident.
