Police investigating the vandalism of a war memorial in Thrapston have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the incident.

The incident took place overnight between Thursday November 12 and Friday November 13.

The Royal British Legion's silent soldier, who stood over Thrapston’s war memorial, was damaged beyond repair in the incident and flower beds were ripped up and thrown over the street.

Northamptonshire Police, earlier this week, released a CCTV image of a man they wanted to speak to in connection with the incident. A man, 24, was arrested in Northampton earlier today (November 15) and remains in police custody.
