Man arrested after midnight rampage in Corby

A man who went on a criminal rampage along a Corby road in the early hours of this morning has been arrested.

The series of incidents happened in Oakley Road between 12.30am and 12.45am - a 22-year-old man was apprehended up at the scene.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: " The incident happened in Oakley Road, Corby, this morning between 12.30am and 12.45am, when a number of cars in the road had their windows smashed.

"A resident heard the noise and went out to challenge the suspect. They were bitten in the leg as a result, requiring hospital treatment.

"We deployed and the suspect also threw stones at one of our officers.

"A 22-year-old man has been arrested for four counts of criminal damage, two counts of ABH and for assaulting an emergency worker."

Resident Carola Edwards and husband Paul had both of their cars damaged and found what they believe to be human waste on the rear seat of one of their cars.

She said: "I wonder what went through that person’s mind, smashing every single car window down our stretch of Oakley Road.

"I feel sorry for our neighbours who tackled him and got hurt in the process. And why would you defecate on the back seat of someone’s car?"
