A 21-year-old man has been remanded in custody in connection with a knifepoint robbery near University of Northampton halls of residence earlier this month.

Cain Downton, of Lion Court, Northampton, was arrested by the UoN police division and charged with robbery and carrying a weapon following an alleged incident in which a student’s Canada Goose was jacket taken on New South Bridge Road on April 3.

Downton will next appear at Northampton Crown Court on June 10.
