Police have confirmed an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a sex offence following a volunteer vigilante group 'sting' operation in Northampton.

A spokesman for the force said: "On Monday, March 9, Northamptonshire Police received a report relating to a vigilante group having identified a man suspected of being involved in the online grooming of children.

"An 18-year-old man was arrested at Northampton train station on suspicion of attempting to cause or incite a girl to engage in sexual activity. He has since been released on police bail pending further investigation."
