KGH heroes finish shift and find thieves had stolen catalytic converters from cars

Two NHS heroes returned to their cars after a shift at Kettering General Hospital - only to find thieves had taken the catalytic converters.

Police are hunting two men in black balaclavas who were seen jacking up the vehicles in the off-site staff car park in Trafalgar Road between 3.15pm and 3.30pm on Friday (May 15).

After taking the catalytic converter from a blue Honda Jazz they then did the same thing to a white Toyota Auris as their victims were at work keeping us safe during the coronavirus crisis.

The suspects were described as driving a silver Volvo and they drove towards Northfield Avenue when they’d finished stealing the converters, which are often taken because of the high value of the precious metals they contain.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “We have two opposing sections of society here - the incredible NHS workers who are putting their lives on the line every day to fight Covid-19, and two thieves who think stealing is a legitimate way to make money.

“After a shift at work, the last thing these two NHS workers needed was to see that their vehicles had been interfered with.

“We are very keen to bring these two men to justice and anyone with any information as to who they might be should contact us on 101.”
