A 'depraved' Kettering man who sexually assaulted a young girl has been jailed for 18 months.

Federico Gaziano, 39, of Cobden Street, made his victim give evidence during a four-day trial after denying attacking the child in 2018.

Detective Constable Paul Lilley, of Northamptonshire Police’s Child Protection Team, said Gaziano was a 'depraved sexual offender' and described the incident as 'disgraceful'.

He said: “The bravery of the young girl in this case, who gave evidence, has been extraordinary."

Gaziano was also placed on the register for sex offenders for 10 years and barred from working with children.

He is also the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
