Kettering man charged over incident which left woman dead

A Kettering man will face magistrates today accused of being involved in an incident which later led to the death of a woman.
Wayne Steele, 42, has been charged with causing GBH with intent to a man, possessing a weapon designed to discharge electricity and possession of knuckledusters after an altercation in Russell Street in Kettering at about 6.20pm on Monday (June 15).

Hide AdDuring the incident, another man allegedly assaulted a woman, who died at the scene. The suspect was arrested and remains in custody today.
It is alleged that Steele, of Mill Road, assaulted the man just before the woman's death.
Steele is on remand and will appear at Northampton Magistrates' Court today.
Police remained at the scene throughout yesterday with a cordon in place in the one-way section between Gladstone Street and Gordon Street.

Hide AdA blue police tent was in the terraced street, outside the road's more modern homes.
The nature of the woman's death or what happened in the incident is yet to be released, although a post-mortem examination was due to take place in Leicester last night.
