He was taken to University Hospital Coventry but died from his injuries later that week.

Ross Eaton, of Union Street in Kettering, has since been charged with causing the death of Mr Reid by driving without due care and attention.

He entered a not guilty plea when he appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court.

Eaton, 46, has also been charged with taking a Saab 93 without consent, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence on September 9.

Eaton also faces charges of drug-driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence on May 24 this year.

Magistrates granted Eaton unconditional bail and he will next appear at Northampton Crown Court on August 26.
