Residents in an area of Corby were told to go back into their homes yesterday after reports of a 'gunman' in the area.

Officers were called to Cottingham Road just before 2pm after people spotted a man was with what was believed to be a firearm, with claims he was firing the weapon at cars.

A nearby resident who did not want to be named said they saw two police officers with guns walking down Cottingham Road, past the BP garage.
