“As that one drove off, a police riot van went off with in what seemed to be an escort.”

Police cordoned off the property soon after and forensic officers have been there this morning, neighbours say.

One neighbour close to the police cordon said he was woken up by the emergency services.

He saids: “There were just these flashing lights in my room.

“I looked out and the (police) BMW X5 was out there. There were police cars all up the street and an ambulance.”

One neighbour, who was returning to her home in Portland Place at around 2.30am, said: “I just saw an ambulance there and, there was a lot of police cars at the top of the street.

“We didn’t stay around to look because we were terrified so we just wanted to get home.”
