Hit-and-run caused Irthlingborough A6 closure

The A6 was closed at Chowns MIll near Irthlingborough on Saturday (October 3) because of a hit-and-run, police have confirmed.

The busy road was shut after the incident which took place at about 12.45pm, leaving queues on the A45 stretching almost back to Rushden Lakes.

A police spokesman said a white van is said to have hit two other vehicles while speeding.

The van driver was then picked up by a black Ford Mondeo which made off from the scene.

Fortunately there were no serious injuries.

Police are investigating the incident and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward, quoting incident number 228 of Saturday.
