A Burton Latimer family have been left heartbroken by the theft of their nine-week-old Labrador puppy.

Boris, a black lab, was stolen from a garden in Kettering Road, Burton Latimer, at around 7.15pm last night (Thursday, April 31).

Northamptonshire Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "We would also appeal directly to the person or people who stole Boris to find some compassion in their hearts and return him as this is a young puppy who deserves a nice life in a safe, loving home with the family who dote on him and are heartbroken that he has been taken away."

A rural crime officer, PC Hutch Hutchings, tweeted an appeal and said: "As a nation of dog lovers PLEASE can you help and retweet.

"This black Labrador puppy...stolen from Burton Latimer. Let's make him too hot to handle and get him returned.

"Times are hard enough without breaking a families [sic] heart like this."
