Police have made a fourth arrest following a street brawl which ended with two men being stabbed in Northampton on Monday night.

A 42-year-old man is being held in custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent over the incident near the Costcutter store in Kettering Road.

Two more men aged 34 and 35 who were also detained have now been released from custody but are still under investigation.

A 32-year-old man has been released with no further action.

Police were called to brawl in Cowper Street, near the Costcutter store, on Monday (April 20).

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “The incident happened at about 6pm when a large group of men were seen to be fighting near Costcutter, resulting in two men being stabbed.

"We are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has mobile phone footage of it or any other information to please call us on 101 or, anonymously, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
