The family of a Corby grandfather killed in a crash earlier this month say he will be "missed dearly".

William Clenaghan, who liked to be known as ‘Billy’, died on May 1 after his mobility scooter was hit by a grey Fiat 500 at about 2.25pm at a pelican crossing near Morrisons in Oakley Road.

The air ambulance was called to the incident but the 79-year-old died at the scene.

In a tribute released by Northamptonshire Police, his family said: "William had a unique character.

"He is loved and will be missed dearly by his wife, three children and two grandchildren.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the crash but a police investigation is ongoing.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage should call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615.
