These are the faces of 13 men who were among those jailed at Northampton Crown Court in cases covered by this newspaper during April 2023.
They include a 21-year-old Londoner locked up over a midnight knife fight in Wellingborough Road, Northampton; a registered sex offender found with indecent images on a secret tablet found in a police raid on his Wellingborough home; a 19-year-old who admitted supplying crack cocaine in Kettering; and a domestic abuser nicknamed ‘Smirkles’ because he believed he was untouchable…
5. Brandon Southall
Birmingham man Southall was involved in taking three teenage victims and demanding up to £1,000 from their families in Northampton in August 2021. The 25-year-old was sentenced to 11 years for theft, robbery, conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, possessing an indecent video of a child, and two counts of kidnap and blackmail. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years. Photo: Northamptonshire Police
6. Noman Naeem
The 28-year-old admitted playing a big role in a drugs line supplying heroin and crack cocaine in Northampton was “the biggest mistake of his life” as he was jailed for three years, two months.
Naeem pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying Class A drugs after police raided his home in Floribunda Drive in January this year.
Devon Small, in mitigation, described Naeem as a “family man,” who lost his job over a drug-driving ban. His drug debts mounted so he took on managing the phone for money as a last resort. Photo: Northamptonshire Police
7. Mark Martin
An abuser nicknamed ‘Smirkles’ because he believed he was untouchable has been jailed for breaching a restraining order with a barrage of threatening messages. The victim moved to Kettering to escape Martin, 28, after he was convicted of attempting to strangle her, biting her face, kicking her ribs, locking her in a wardrobe and throwing water at her. 8. Raymond Wykes
A judge said a young girl would be “scarred for life” after Kettering paedophile Wykes subjected her to a “chilling” campaign of abuse. The 46-year-old delivery driver, of Headlands, was arrested in May last year after the victim courageously came forward. Photo: Northamptonshire Police
