Those put behind bars include a man who stabbed a teenager in a “senseless and horrific” attack in Northampton town centre, a heartless bully who strangled his girlfriend, a drug dealer and serial shoplifters.

5. Ibrahim Ahmed

The Sudanese asylum seeker was jailed for three years for robbery, burglary and theft offences in Northamptonshire. Ahmed, who is believed to be 28 according to a Home Office assessment, of Buckingham Road, Deanshanger, using a fire extinguisher to break through a door and spray the shopkeeper during one late-night raid on a shop in the village. 6. Joseph Mills

A judge jailed the 34-year-old serial shoplifter for 31 months after he ignored court orders supposed to prevent him reoffending by stealing from four Northampton grocery stores 37 TIMES. Mills, of no fixed abode, stole wine, confectionery, detergent and washing liquid from branches of One Stop, Tesco Express, One Stop and Heron Foods. Photo: Northamptonshire Police

7. Mohammed Miah

Miah was sentenced to 49 months after he was convicted of carrying out a targeted campaign against a woman in Rushden. A jury found the 42-year-old, of no fixed address, guilty of repeatedly assaulting the woman in front of her children and was later charged with engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, stalking involving fear of violence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place after police discovered a utility knife inside his vehicle. 8. Ashley Brian Evans

The former soldier was working as a prison officer at HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough when he sent a vile video of himself masturbating to a member of an online paedophile sting group posing as a 14-year-old girl. Evans, aged 37, of Archangel Square, Northampton, also admitted asking for pictures of her naked, and in her school uniform and tried to get her to have explicit conversations with him.
