Police are hunting a driver who fled after smashing into a house in Northampton town centre on Wednesday night (November 11).

Firefighters and police were called after a silver BMW 3 Series crashed into the front of a property in Robert Street in The Mounts, causing substantial damage to the house.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "The driver absconded after the incident and enquiries are being progressed to try and track him or her down.

"If anyone was in the The Mounts area at around 10pm last night and saw either the vehicle or someone running away from the scene, please call us on 101. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crimestoppers with any information on 0800 555 111."
